Przemiany Festiwal 2013 Fold Warsaw

Design: Hania Kokczynska, Jacek Majewski, Mikolaj Molenda, Michal Piasecki

Contemporary manufacturing technologies such as cnc milling combined with computational design enable designers to invite the public to take part in an open design processes. The idea of open design is at the core of Fold Warsaw - a set of seats designed for Przemiany Festiwal 2013 by Bridge and Super Super.

Michal created an algorithm inspired by origami. The algorithm enables personalisation of a stool made to fit for a particular user while making sure that each created piece is feasible for manufacturing and structurally stable after assembly.

60 participants created their own unique stool through the web configurator. After the end of the Festival each of them received their personalized design .

This initial exploration was one of the bedrocks which enabled research into coding - manufacturing, design and personalisation which eventually led Michal to co-founding Tylko.
