Power to the People - Exhibition

Przemiany Festiwal, Copernicus Science Centre, 2013

Curators: Hania Kokczynska, Jacek Majewski, Michal Piasecki

Power to the People was one of the main events during Przemiany Festiwal 2013. It was a design exhibition, a fablab, series of lectures and workshops. Power To The People is an interdisciplinary overview of contemporary manufacturing and design technologies with a specific focus on 3d printing.

The exhibition reflects the new approach to manufacturing which is unfolding now. Manufacturing which goes back to local, personalized and on-demand while using contemporary technologies such as digital fabrication and computational design.

Digital production methods will eliminate the hitherto strict division into designer, producer and recipient. One of the main implications of these changes is mass personalization; The ability to fully customize products to the individual needs of the recipient. The exhibition is a review of new methods of digital fabrication and an attempt to look at how it will change our everyday lives.

We are interested in the human driving force which - supported by new technologies - can change the world. New production methods, including 3D printing, are no longer reserved only for specialists. We can print everything: from shoes, through endoprosthesis, to space stations on Mars. Our only limit is our imagination. The heroes of Changes operate in various areas of life. Their projects are an expression of passion and willingness to change the existing reality. With the help of technology, knowledge and sensitivity available to everyone, they solve specific social problems, influencing the shape of science, art, medicine and food production.
