Really like this review of the developments in this are of design and making, if you havn’t come across them check out Autonomatics, digital design research cluster at University College Falmouth, lots more exciting ideas.

Hi Michal. The theme is very interesting and I’d like to read the article to know further about the research.
I am also a PhD student researching methods in digital design process, furniture industry and mass customization. I am currently developing a parametric model to generate custom made chairs. The use of online configurators to make it suitable for users will be a natural development of the project.

Thanks Peter, these designs where both nature inspired, only that in case of Times Eureka we have looked at the logic of growth of trees. The structure is covered with glass just now, but other finished would be possible too.
