An article on mass customization in 2+3d

Michal’s new article on mass customization and the paradox of choice is published in 2+3d. The text features the works of Nervous System, Studio Ludens and Fluid Forms and touches on Michal’s PhD research subject – developing configurators which prevent the occurence of the paradox of choice. Michal is working on tools which enable intuitive browsing through iterations of a parametric model, even if it is controlled by a significant number of parameters.

W tekście omówione są projekty Nervous System, Studia Ludens oraz Fluid Forms a także temat badań doktoranckich Michała – opracowywanie konfiguratorów zapobiegających występowaniu paradoksu wyboru. Michał pracuje nad narzędziami które pozwalają na intuicyjne przeglądanie kolejnych wersji modelu parametrycznego nawet jeśli jest on kontrolowany przez znaczącą ilość parametrów.

    Hi Michal. The theme is very interesting and I’d like to read the article to know further about the research.
    I am also a PhD student researching methods in digital design process, furniture industry and mass customization. I am currently developing a parametric model to generate custom made chairs. The use of online configurators to make it suitable for users will be a natural development of the project.
